If it was any consolation, the Wasps defeated London Irish in six tries. The victory was theirs, but it did not earn them a place in the semi finals to be played on home ground, which was part of the playoffs of the Premiership games.
The Irish team was in the second tier before the kick off rounds began. They were led by Johnny Williams who tried to thrash the Wasps. The Wasps, however led during the break point. With Exeter winning over Harlequins, the former ensured that Wasps could not have the match in their home ground. The chiefs had a victory of 62-24 at The Twickenham Stoop. This meant that the Wasps were to travel to their next match to Sandy Park, which would be held on 21st May.
As per the game that ensued between Wasps and London Irish, the hosts were initially taking it easy. After that Williams came after the Irish for which they had to step up the urgency of defending their side. Thomas Young helped restore the lead that the Wasps had. Charles Piutau put in a second try. Alex Lewington also tried to add in a back to the Irish team. This was after the game ensued in the second half.
However, players like Ashley Johnson, Josh Bassett and Dan Robson were able to help Wasps seal their victory. On the other hand, Irish review is scheduled for Coventry. While Wasps were able to get the points to secure a position in the semi finals, London Irish head coach admitted that their opponent played a powerful game.Tags London Irish
