SMITH EXPECTS PASSION

The Director of Rugby for the Aviva Premiership side the London Irish Brian Smith expects the players in his team to show the same kind of passion and determination that they showed in the match against the Leicester Tigers when they take on Exeter Chiefs this week.

The Exiles made a late effort in the match against the Tigers when almost everyone present in the ground thought them to be dead and buried but they rallied from a huge deficit to cut down the lead.

Although they didn’t manage to draw the match, Smith believes that the performance in the second half of the match set an example or a benchmark for the upcoming fixtures of the team as well as for the next season.

Moreover, Smith also believes that there is reason to be proud of that performance as they put on the show with no recognized and experienced number 10 on the pitch. With the injury to Dan Bowden and the imminent departure of Adrian Jarvis, the London Irish are in need of a new fly half and Smith has stated that they are well in place to secure the signings of a player that they have looked at for quite some time.

According to Smith, who was still beaming about the way his players fought back against the Harlequins, it gives the team plenty of confidence ahead of the last few games of the season and all they are looking to do is secure as high a position in the League as possible.

This also gives him enough confidence to say that the London Irish will be a team to beat next season with the addition of a few new players that will change the play of the team completely and all they need to do is work hard for that.
